A hidden waterfall in the Sahyadri forest, accessible via a short jungle trail. At peak monsoon (July–September) it runs strong and the surrounding forest is at its most vivid. Far less visited than anything near Lonavala.

An ancient Shiva temple set within a forest near a stream — peaceful, unhurried, and genuinely old. Worth an hour on any visit. The drive through the Maval countryside to get there is half the experience.

Most people default to monsoon or winter. Both are excellent. But the shoulder seasons here — post-monsoon October and early summer — are the best-kept secrets in the Sahyadri.

Lonavala isn't bad.
It's just not this.

Lonavala works well for a day trip — Bhushi Dam, Tiger's Leap, the viewpoints. It's genuinely scenic. But for an overnight stay where you actually want to switch off, the commercialisation has caught up with it. The resorts are large, the town is loud on weekends, and the "mountain escape" feeling is harder to find than it used to be.

Kamshet isn't trying to be Lonavala. It's quieter, less developed, and — if what you want is a private space in the mountains — considerably better for it. The same road. Twenty more minutes. A completely different experience.
